INDIA GLOBAL LEADERS PROGRAMME
EDUCATION, EMPLOYABILITY AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN INDIA
26 FEB - 10 MAR 2018

More than half of India’s vast population of 1.3 billion is younger than 25. The country faces the significant challenge of harnessing this generation as a productive work force. An estimated 200 million young people must be trained by 2022 and skills training is today a major policy issue.

Participants on the GLP will work with LabourNet, a professional social enterprise based out of Bangalore, India and dedicated to providing work-integrated job training to informal workers in construction, manufacturing, textiles and cosmetics/beauty. The group of global executives will propose develop strategic recommendations and a business model to support the socio-economic livelihoods of people in urban and rural India through education, employment and entrepreneurship.

"In recent years, "experiential learning experiences" have become 'de rigueur' at leading business schools...as professors seek to move their curriculums beyond classroom case studies and better equip their students to operate in unpredictable emerging markets.
Typically the business schools send their students overseas for a few weeks - often to developing countries - to work with companies, government or non-governmental organisations to draw up business plans or product launches.
GIFT...[offers] something more immersive and with more impact, both for participants and those they work alongside.
On its programmes, executives work in developing countries to come up with business models...that can make returns for investors while fulfilling a wider social need."
