STORY

Protests in Israel have been ongoing for months, motivated in part by the mismanagement of the healthcare system and the country's response to the pandemic. Tamar Shemesh, her family and her friends drive from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. The protests for Tamar are a place of connection, creativity and solidarity. For Tamar, healing starts from within: arts, performances, debates, singing circles and meditation. The language of stillness, peace, and mindful attention were particularly healing.

In early September, hundreds of thousands of protestors in Jerusalem remained in complete silence, meditating for ten minutes. They demonstrated a quiet yet powerful presence of peace, unity and focus, balancing the anger and stress sparked by these challenge times and by the protests.
